What is Truth?Jack - are you out there? Show yourself, and let's talk!By Paul Hayden June 17, 2024This publication is dedicated to the “truth.” But what is truth? We definitely need some sort of basis to go on, perhaps now more than ever in history. There has been a challenge to me and this publication, of which I am now in charge. The challenger is one “Jack,” but beyond that I have no idea who that is. You can see his comments at the end of my article “The Mission And Goals For Conservative Truth,” along with my responses. What is Truth? Pilate asked this of Jesus, when they met near the end of Jesus' life. Pilate thought that he had Jesus' fate in his hands. Little did he know. As recorded in John chapter 18, verses 33-38 (in the New Testament of the Bible - NASB). Therefore Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" I don't think Pilate had any idea who Jesus was. His heart and mind were not opened to the truth. He was spiritually dead. He had only his lifeless Roman gods and his trust in the Roman emperor as the deity in his life, along with whatever riches he called his own. But here he was in direct contact with the Son of God, God's embodiment in the flesh in the person of Jesus. And Pilate had no clue. At another time, Jesus had said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him." John 14.6-7 I do not know the ultimate fate of the world, the people in it, or even me and my family. I trust the words of Jesus, and to a limited degree, those of His faithful followers. Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit to guide us into all the truth. But one surely cannot just haphazardly, through wishful thinking, think that everything that pops into his head is the truth. There has to be a commitment to know and live in that truth. Truth has to do with reality, with honesty, within the context of God and the world that He created, and how He created it. Well…this is all very heady, and gets into philosophical as well as the spiritual aspects of life. But it is good to give it some thought. All too often we just go about our everyday lives, and do not give thought to the spiritual things, to God our Father and Jesus and His revelation of God in the world. But it is the Spirit in our life that truly gives us life. It is as close as our next breath or heartbeat. There is a Hebrew word that means both “breath” and “spirit,” as well as the “wind.” What is it that gave you life, keeps you alive? What is it that “creates” babies in the womb? Thanks be to God, the maker of the heavens and earth and all that is in it. I certainly don't have all the answers, but I trust in God and Jesus.

My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
